A Minnesota photographer braved subzero temperatures over President’s Day weekend to capture the moment when plates of ice washed up onto a Lake Superior shoreline.
The “waves” looked and sounded like glass breaking, according to photographer Dawn M. LaPointe, who filmed the video below at Brighton Beach in Duluth. During the two-hour shoot, temperatures ranged from -8°F and 3°F and the sheets of ice were about ¼ to three inches thick, she said in a post on Facebook where the video has racked up over 1.2 million views since it was first uploaded on February 13.
