University of Florida basketball walk-on Zach Hodskins, who was born without the lower part of his left arm, scored his first collegiate points on Tuesday. The sophomore drove to the basket against opposing forward Darius Dawkins with less than a minute to go in the Gators’ game against the Jacksonville Dolphins. He then executed a perfect spinning layup and also drew a foul while the Florida crowd went insane.
“Really happy for Zach,” Florida coach Mike White said during the postgame press conference. “He’s a great young man. Obviously overcoming an unbelievable adversity, he’s a very, very likable young man. You could tell by the decibel level in the O-Dome when he scored. It was a fun moment for our team.”
